“Let’s just move on,” he says. “I want to eat something.”

“Yeah? I know just the thing. DOLOREEEEES—”

“NO.” His eyes widen and he jumps up to shush him.

“DOOOOLL?”

Matt clenches his teeth. “SHUT THE FUCK UP—,” when, entering the room in true dollface fashion:

“What’s up?“

Liquified across the table, Matt tucks his head under a tent made by his forearms to hide his embarrassment while Zach wallows in seeing him squirm.

“We’re gonna order sushi,” he says.

At the counter, Matthew lets out a long breath hearing that. He eases himself, and continues to watch her through the overflowing sleeves of his shirt.

“Uuu, I want—”

Zach cuts her off. “Salmon sashimi, soy sauce, wasabi, and wakame.”

Like a Christmas tree, her face lights up to hear him say her order already. “I love you.” An arm raises to point a finger at him, and she turns to leave the room.

“…and tobiko gunkan.”

“Tobiko gunkan!” she stops halfway through the threshold and turns on her heel, hands bending in the shape of a heart. “Thank you, Matty.”

It’d be safe to say that the kitchen counter hadn’t had as much action as it did now for a long time, with Matt’s face squishing down into it. He raises his hands above his head and makes the same heart shape back at her with his fingers, and follows the sight of her bounce out the room before turning a side eye glance over at his best friend.

“…you forgot it on purpose.”

“I did.”

“Uummghhh,” Matthew groans and slides his body down the chair until it lay limp in a puddle on the floor underneath them. “I’m done.”
