“How do I know if I’m happy?”
“Well,” he starts and reaches into his pocket to pull something out. “German philosopher Immanuel Kant had three rules for happiness.”
“Being?”
“Having something to do,”
“Aha.”
“…someone to love,”
“mmmkay.”
“…and something to hope for.”
“Hm….,” the other guy thinks, and inspects the dangling derpy Immanuel Kant that his friend just pulled from his pocket. “Something to do, …someone to love,…”
“…”
“…”
“So, how screwed are you?”
“…are they interchangeable?”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, I have no shit to do and nobody to love, but I might have a something I love and someone to do.” The guy says and squeezes closer to the face of Immanuel Kant. “Does that count?”
“I’m…I’m not sure about how the Universe feels about you trying to find loopholes in semantics,” says Immanuel Kant.
“Shucks!”
”What about hope? Do you have something to hope for?”
“I hope the Universe will allow me to play around with the semantics.”
“…”
“Does that count?”
